Latest on the Rose Garden (May 2021) by Alison

Compliments about the spring flowers in the Rose Garden have been paid to the volunteers!   This little group take responsibility for the planting and tending of the beds and are often to be seen there on a Saturday.   The tulips in the central bed have looked particularly lovely.

Two or three new roses have been planted and watering them in the early weeks was been a particular concern as it had been so dry; (indeed, as they went for a walk in the park, one or two people had even brought a bottle of water from home for the new roses.)   So, whilst tending the beds, there's chat about all the practical stuff such as the need for water, compost and fertilizer (+ associated funding) - amongst many other topics !   

In the coming weeks, a small sign may appear in one or two flower beds, with simple positive wording, also reminding visitors that the care of the beds is done by local volunteers.
