The Hanover AdvoCats (“AdvoCats”) 501(c)(3) was founded in Spring 2023 with the goal of creating a non-profit organization that effectively supports the teachers, staff, students and facilities of New Hanover High School (“NHHS”) in perpetuity.
We are focused on building partnerships between alumni, private donors, philanthropies, and the State/County/City and School System, to come together willingly and proactively invest in NHHS, downtown schools, and the community which surrounds them.
As we are beginning to think of Graduation and Summer, it's also time to consider volunteering with the AdvoCats. Of course we need and appreciate your donations, but for those with capacity, we also would greatly appreciate your time and talent.
Below are the positions that are open for the 2024/2025 School Year:
Vice President: Voting Board Member, Assist President and other Board and Committee Members with operations, fundraisers, Teacher Appreciation events, Teacher grants, etc. Must be willing to serve as President the following school year.
Teacher Appreciation Events Coordinator: Committee Member, Develops Events and Coordinates with School Administration for approval. Oversees day-of events soliciting other AdvoCats for support.
Fundraising Director: Committee Member, Oversees all fundraising efforts including the Annual Giving campaign, capital campaigns, and other fundraising events
Communications Director: Committee Member, Oversees and posts to all Social Media accounts. Updates website with upcoming events, event photos, meeting notes, etc.
Teachers/Staff Lounge Adoption Coordinator: Committee Member, Oversees and Coordinates the Parental and/or Team adoptions of the 6 Teacher/Staff Lounges
Spirit Wear Coordinator: Committee Member, Coordinates with Allison on initial and fill-in orders, updates online inventory with available sizes, coordinates getting gear to buyers

With all donations to the AdvoCats, every dollar will go directly to the benefit of NHHS: the school, the staff and the students.
The Hanover AdvoCats is a 501(c)(3) set up to specifically, exclusively, support New Hanover High School. As such, all donations to the Hanover AdvoCats are 100% deductible, subject to the current tax laws. If there are tax questions specific to your unique tax status, please contact a tax professional.
