Summary of the week
Tuesday morning the class had to draw what they thought would make the correct time on their clocks, in their books. The higher group attempted half past however all other groups just had on the hour (o'clock). They then finished off some History work and went out for break. After break the class had a visitor who came to discuss African story telling. After lunch they had PSHE about healthy eating and categorising healthy and unhealthy foods. We then played hit the button where i kept a leader board which brought up the excitement over a maths game. Wednesday morning the class had PE doing circuits in the hall. The focus of the circuit was balance =, agility and aim. They then came back to class and practiced handwriting. After break it was time for phonics so everybody split off into their phonics groups. After lunch The class did maths learning about "two more than ___ is ____". For this session they used rekenreks to help them to visualise the numbers. After lunch was Art where they learned about Antony Gormley and what sculptures he created. They had to sketch some of his artwork and note down a fact about him. They finished the day with Spanish and played a game of bingo where the children had to identify what was on their bingo sheet from hearing it in Spanish. Thursday morning was ran by me and the TA teaching o'clock and half past o'clock. I worked with the lowest ability group on the carpet where we played a game of 'what's the time Mr Wolf?'. I would set a time on the clock and the pupils had to tell me the time that it was. Then I would say a time and the pupils would have to set it on their own clock. Then the class had RE and finished off writing the events of Easter. After lunch the children had indoor PE, which today was Yoga. They had to try plenty of different poses to stretch out their bodies whilst following along with a 'yoga story'. The finish the day they watched a video about how to sign the days of the week in respect of deaf awareness week. Friday morning started with assembly awarding a child in each class with star of the week and then reading a story to the whole school. After, the class came back to class to do their spelling test. Each group had different spellings according to where they are at in their phonics groups. In the afternoon they had phonics where I observed year 2 phonics and then computing. In computing they continued their work on pictograms and creating their own graphs.
