All the updates on my home made passive sonar
Sonar (Sound Navigation and Ranging) is a technique that uses sound propagation—typically underwater—to navigate, communicate, or detect objects like submarines, fish, and seabeds.
It exists in nature. Bats use it to 'see' their surroundings in pitch darkness. Dolphins and whales use it to communicate.
Humans have also figured out its usefullness over a century ago, its mostly used underwater by fishermen to find fish, and by submarines to navigate and map out their environment.
There are two kinds of sonar, passive sonar and active sonar.
Active sonar emits sound pulses ("pings") and listens for echoes to detect, range, and classify objects, acting like an underwater radar. Passive sonar only listens for noises emitted by ships, submarines, or marine life, offering stealth to the operator. Active provides instant, accurate positioning, while passive is for long-range, covert detection
I intend to to build a passive sonar system out of 3 sound sensors and an Arduino R3 board. It should be capable of determinig the direction and position of a loud sound source.
I got 3 sound sensor modules like this one form WaveShare
I improvised this frame, so I have a stable shape to mount all the components on. Sensors on the edges, and microprocessor and display in the middle.
This is what the system looks like after a few hours of putting everything together. Now all thats left is the software, which I've tested earlier (without photos) on 2 sensors.

I've put the sonar project on standby because of my studies. But that doesnt mean it's abandoned.
