SBCsim: A Powerful Digital Twin Solution of Solid & Screen Bowl Centrifuges
SBCsim is a user-friendly web application with digital twin capability. It utilises highly accurate models that are validated against extensive literature data. This innovative tool is designed to maximise dewatering efficiency of solid-bowl and screen-bowl operations by providing a virtual replica of these systems. SBCsim offers flexibility to run continuously with real-time inputs or operate as an on-demand simulator. This makes it as a valuable tool for maintaining optimal plant operations and a power resource for manufacturers. SBCsim is available in two versions, simulating dewatering performance of the feed both with and without flocculant.
The intuitive input page of the SBCsim enables users to input tailored parameters effortlessly and ensures easy customisation for enhanced decision-making. For user convenience, we provide multiple example values in a drop-down menu, including options for pilot scale and plant scale machines .
The dynamic user-interactive output page of the SBCsim presents users with insightful results, facililating a comprehensive understanding of dewatering performance and enabling informed decisions to optimise the centrifuge operation.
SBCsim is based on our centrifuge model, which introduces a pioneering approach to predict solid loss and product moisture from screen-bowl and solid-bowl centrifuges. The model was validated against an extensive dataset from nine studies. It offers a reliable and efficient solution for optimising the centrifugal dewatering processes.
The accompanying figures illustrates predictions generated by our centrifuge model under various operational conditions.
Screen Bowl Centrifuge (with 1.1m bowl diameter)
Example 1 - G-force = 450 G; Feed flow rate = 450 m3/h; Feed solids content = 15 wt.%
Solid Bowl Centrifuge (with 1.1m bowl diameter)
Example 1 - Flotation Tailing sample (P80 = 28 microns); G-force = 2000 G; Feed solids content = 15 wt.%
Example 2 - Flotation Concentrate sample (P80 = 160 microns); G-force = 2000 G; Feed solids content = 15 wt.%
The SBCsim requires geometric and operational details of the screen-bowl and solid-bowl as input parameters. The below Tables provide a reference value of design parameters of screen-bowl and solid-bowl that were obtained from publicly available literature (note that certain aspects may necessitate some level of estimation). For precise simulation, we recommend contacting the corresponding manufacturer or distributor of the centrifuge unit that you intend to construct a virtual replica.
The Centrifuge Calculator will be regularly updated for continuous improvement and enhanced user experience.
