Super Decathlon Version 1.0.5 is now available
Behind the Super Decathlon: A Collaboration of Passion and Precision
As I reflect on the journey to bring the American Champion (8KCAB) Super Decathlon to life in Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 (and soon MSFS 2024), there are two people who deserve special recognition for their invaluable contributions—Charlie Morris and Smitty.
Recently, Charlie was featured on the cover of World Airshow News in their second quarter online magazine, with an in-depth 5-page article that offers incredible background on his career and dedication to flying. It’s no surprise that Charlie has made such an impact on the airshow community; his energy and passion are infectious. Having him as one of my primary testers for the Super Decathlon was a privilege. His meticulous feedback, whether it was related to aerobatics or nuanced flight behaviors, helped us ensure that this virtual representation felt as authentic as possible. Without Charlie's input, I’m confident that the aircraft wouldn’t be as refined or enjoyable to fly.
In addition to Charlie, I cannot overlook the tremendous work of Smitty, who helped me nail down the Super Decathlon’s flight model with a level of precision that truly brings this aircraft to life. From the handling dynamics to the physics of flight, Smitty's insights were nothing short of essential. His expertise allowed us to push the boundaries and deliver an experience that feels as close to real-world flying as possible.
Together, Charlie and Smitty's input helped elevate this project into something I am genuinely proud of. So much hard work has gone into perfecting every detail of the Super Decathlon, from its flight model to its stunning liveries—including the iconic Charlie Morris Airshows Livery. The result is an aircraft that I hope brings as much joy to those who fly it in the simulator as it has to those who fly it in real life.
I’ll be sharing more behind-the-scenes details and stories in future blog posts, but for now, I just want to express my gratitude to Charlie and Smitty for their expertise, time, and dedication. I have not Officially released the aircraft, but the Offical version 1.0.0 is available for purchase on this website and most likely this week 9-26-24 it will be in the Official Marketplace for both PC and Xbox.
