1) DO NOT leave your revision to the night before the exam. Give yourself plenty of time in the build up to your assessments and space your revision out
2) Create yourself a revision timetable so you can make sure you're maximising your time. You can find more on this by clicking here
3) Don't spend loads of time making notes look pretty. You want your notes to be neat to help you remember, but spending more time on decorating them than learning the content will not help you in the long run!
4) Try to have a nice quiet, tidy place to do your revision. This can be difficult if you have a busy house but explain to your family how important it is for you and ask them to give you the space to revise.
5) Try a variety of different approaches to find what works best for you. This will also mean that your revision won't get boring!
6) Get plenty of practice at past exam questions. You can find some tips on how best to do this here
7) Make sure to timetable in plenty of breaks from revision, and set aside some time to do things that you find fun.
8) Put phone/tablets etc out the way so you don't get distracted! If you are using your phone to revise, try deleting certain apps temporarily so you are not tempted to spend time on them and set your phone to do not disturb so you don't get notifications
9) Don't just read notes. This will not help them to go into your head. You need to actively engage with them. You can find some tips on making effective notes here.
10) Use online resources so you can revise on the go. Check out the subject pages for links to great revision sites for the different subjects.
11) Be prepared on the day of the exam. Get plenty of sleep (no cramming revision in the night before!), eat well and arrive to school in plenty of time so you feel relaxed and prepared.
