LLMs

A Large Language Model (LLM) is a computer program that can understand and generate human-like language. It's like a super smart dictionary that can read, write, and think about words and ideas! LLMs are trained on huge amounts of text data, so they can learn patterns, relationships and context. 

LLMs are continually leapfrogging each other in capabilities - so it's best to compare a few different ones with the same prompt.

A chatbot is a computer program that can have a conversation with a human. It's like a robot that can talk to you, but instead of being a physical machine, it's a computer program designed to understand and respond to human language. Chatbots are often powered by Large Language Models (LLMs), which are super smart computer programs that can understand and generate human-like language. Think of an LLM as the brain of the chatbot, and the chatbot is the interface that lets you talk to that brain! You can ask it questions, give it tasks, or just chat with it, and it will do its best to help or respond!

Chatbots work nicely in their smartphone app version. Pi is my favorite. You open it and speak. It responds in voice. You can listen to full reply or interrupt to ask your next question. You can also reveal the text by closing out the voice.

Claude, ChatGPT, Gemini also have chatbot interfaces

An AI image generator or illustrator is a computer program that creates images using artificial intelligence. It can produce a wide range of images, from realistic photos to artistic designs, based on prompts, inputs, or even just its own imagination!

The easiest way to start with image creation is with one of these three. They are conversational and respond to follow up suggestions. For example you could try a basic image prompt: "Give me an image of typical middle schoolers." Then follow up asking for more details: "Make them stereotypical Portland Oregon students." Or: "Place them in front of some PDX landmarks."

With  a more advanced tool like Lexica - you can give very elaborate and specific prompts for image creation. For example:  

- "A proud athlete, Latina woman, victorious after race, close-up, face detail, candid photo portrait, sports photojournalism" 

- "Beautiful renaissance painting of a man jogging, athletics, oil-on-canvas masterpiece by Michelangelo, dramatic, dark background"
