About The PTSA

In the fall of 1929, the Hamburg Parent Teacher Association began their first membership drive to bring together parents from across the school district. 90 years later, our unit has grown into a PTSA, with the voice of our students represented on our Executive Board, and our members continuing to have a strong involvement in the welfare and education of our children.

As a centralized unit, we are also part of the New York State PTA and the National PTA. Our mission unites us - to be a "powerful voice for all children, a relevant resource for families and communities, and a strong advocate for the education and well-being of every child." We are proud to be a presence in each of our four elementary buildings, the middle school and the high school, with affordable membership dues that include membership at all six schools.

Throughout its history, the PTA has advocated for our children with safe routes to schools, full-day kindergarten, seatbelts on school buses, and healthy lunch programs. Here in Hamburg, our PTSA helps to provide educational programs for our students, scholarships for graduating seniors, field trips, family activities, and lots of little things in between! We participate in Reflections, a National PTA arts education program, and two of our schools have been recognized by National PTA as schools of excellence - recognizing family engagement efforts and family-school partnerships. At a state level, PTA continues to fight against e-cigarettes, raising the age for tobacco purchase to 21, as well as always advocating for school funding, and having a seat at the table for legislative discussions on improving education.

Join us, as we celebrate over 90 years of advocating for every child!
