The Lake City Airport (Y91) is owned by Friends of Lake City Airport, as of June 2024. Both pilots and non-pilots are encouraged to be “Friends” of Lake City Airport. Pilots who meet the requirements may choose to become voting members.** They make the official decisions, and everyone in the community is invited to contribute ideas and talents by volunteering and sharing concerns/solutions.
There are two main purposes of our nonprofit:
*Maintain a public-access airport for Missaukee County emergency medical services and all pilots who want to land at Lake City
*Provide free education and information about various aspects of aviation by hosting kids aviation night, youth flights by partnering with established aviation organizations, and educational aviation seminars (e.g., weather and safety information)
** Voting Members shall meet the following requirements:
1. Support the mission and purpose of the Organization
2. Support the goal of keeping the Lake City/Y91 airport open and available to pilots
3. Private or better FAA license. No student pilots, or remote pilots.
4. Pay yearly dues
5. Own/rent a lot or home at Y91 OR have an airplane based at Y91.
6. $1000 initial one-time donation
