At Saint Matthew I help in teachers' classrooms, by tutoring students, grading papers, hanging classwork, etc. My role is to assist teachers with tasks they do not have time to do and work one on one with students who are struggling in particular areas. I run math and English stations, helping kids with math facts and vocab.

This experience was important to me as it consistently shows me the hard work and dedication of teachers. Working at Saint Matthew allows me to give back to the teachers who have helped shape my life over the years, and it allows me to connect with students. Even though I am not on an education pathway, volunteering at this elementary school has influenced me to want to work with children in the future and continue to give back. When tutoring students, it is so fun to teach them new things and see how they react once it "clicks" for them. It is so rewarding to me to see how I am impacting students in the classroom.
