Ustaaz-ul-Hikama Hakeem Muhammad Abdullah (1904-1974) needs no introduction in the medical world of the Ind-o-Pak Sub-continent. His family's knowledge of medicine, religion, and writing and compilation is known from back to back. He belonged to the town of Roori in the district of Sirsa in the United Punjab (now Haryana). His father Maulana Muhammad Sulaiman was famous as a physician and preacher of Islam. Maulana Sulaiman was undoubtedly a perfect saint and a supporter of the Islamic movements of India. The number of His Written work is more than twenty. Hakeem Muhammad Abdullah was disciple of Maulana Khairuddin Saraswi. For some time, he also knelt in front of Hakeem Ajmal Khan's teacher, Hakeem Abdul Wahab Ansari, also known as "Nabina (Blind)Sahib". In 1923, at the age of nineteen, he published his first book "Khawas Patkadi" ’’خواص پھٹکڑی‘‘ for the treatment of all diseases with a cheap medicine "alum". He founded a publishing house named Darul Kitab Soleimani in a remote area like Roori after getting refusal from Publishers of Lahore to print his books. By 1946, about 60 medical books were published by his pen and became popular, both general and special. The number of his published and unpublished books (which were left in India due to partition) is around 140.In 1934, the All India Greek and Ayurvedic Medical Conference was established by Masih Mulk Hakeem Ajmal Khan. Comprising the most prominent doctors & Practitioner Hakeems, this conference declared these books as a great addition to Greek medicine and gave encouragement by awarding a first class certificate and a gold medal to the distinguished author. He was the first medical writer who was declared deserving of this unique Encouragement and honor. After the partition of the sub-continent, he migrated from his native town "Malouf" and settled in "Jahanian" District, Khanewal, and here 6 books of "Kawaas" "خواص" series were published under the name of Soleimani Publication. However due to financial constraints, he temporarily granted publication rights of his Books to Ashraf Tajer -a Book Publisher of Kashmiri Bazaar in Lahore . In Jahania his clinic became popular among people from all class & age group. Throughout his life, he remained a reference point in the world, and maintained his skill with pen and paper. His engagement for the promotion of science and medicine demonstrates his love for his passion and for his profession.
As an orator, his speeches were very pleasant and effective. He had a personal relationship with most of the religious and scholarly elites of Pakistan. He inherited his love for books, and his library in Rohri , contained more than 10,000 rare books. This printed assets Hakeem Abdullah of was one of the largest personal library in India. That was no doubt an unparalleled personal library. His love for books increased after the establishment of Pakistan. And despite the unfavorable conditions, within a few years, he not only establishes Soleimani Library in Jahanian but also maintained a collection 80,000 books there.
Among the works of Hakeem Muhammad Abdullah, Kunzalmajrbat is parallel to Gul-i-Sarsayad. This book is one of the most popular and useful general medical books of the 20th century. Since the publication of Kunzalmajrbat's first volume in 1925, it has been sold in the number of about one lakh. It is difficult to find a precedent for the sale of a medical book even close to this. What is in this book? And how effective and useful are his prescriptions? it is needless to say. Without any exaggeration, since its compilation, millions of people have benefited from it. There is hardly any school in the Indian Sub-continent that does not use a version of Kunz al-Mujerbat. Thousands of people expressed in letters and public meetings that owe this book a lot as they got interest in medicine and even opt the profession of Tib after reading Kunz al-Mujerbat .In 1968, the Pakistan Medical Board headed by the late Hakeem Muhammad Hasan Qureshi visited the entire East and West Pakistan for the registration of doctors. After the completion of the visit, the members of the medical board came to Jahanian and gave Hakeem Muhammad Abdullah the title of Ustaaz-ul-Hikama and said that "all over Pakistan, we asked the doctors during the interview which medical books they usually use." ? Ninety percent of the answers were, "Hakim Muhammad Abdullah's Kunz-al-Mujarabat!"
In addition to this, Hakeem Muhammad Abdullah's Kanzal Murakabaat کنزالمرّکبات , Kanzal-e-Mufrdaat کنزالمفردات , as well as the series of Easy Home remedies خواص الاشیا , Hind-o-Pak kee Jari Botyan or un kay Fawaeed, Free treatment مفت علاج , Home treatment گھر کا علاج , Fruit treatmentپھلوں سے علاج , Flower treatmentپھولوں سے علاج , etc. are famous and sought after. His writings are Easy to Understand , free from hard vocabulary of Arabic and Persian language and complicated medical terms. They are valuable collection of information and their presentation is very smooth, interesting and charming. This is the reason that not only medical professionals but also ordinary educated people and housewives can benefit from his compilations. Some of these books have been translated into English, Hindi, Marathi and Gujarati languages. Hakeem Muhammad Abdullah's fame in the academic world is due to his generosity towards distribution of his Knowledge & Wisdom . He recorded precious rare, time tested and presidential prescriptions in his books for the benefit of future generations by saying that "The Real Sustainer is Allah Almighty and declared it "shirk" to consider human knowledge and prescriptions the Sustainer."
About his five series of work, Hakeem Sahib writes that "The main purpose of the books I wrote before the establishment of Pakistan was to serve the people." But at the same time, he considered them as a source of employment, but now the main purpose of writing books is to serve God's creation and get His pleasure.
