Such a divide is a result of a movement in the 2050s that called for the total removal of social networks because of its invasion of basic human rights such as privacy, and security. Virtual reality technology and facial recognition algorithms went through exponential development in the decade following the 2020 Pandemic.

In the late 2050s, the debate of the value of the virtual world turned into a global movement against the internet-based social network.

Now, in 2070, policies and regulations are put in place to provide people’s option of whether they want to be included in the virtual world.
