Welcome to my page - My name is Jonty and I have put this page together to help highlight principles about OER and to show you best practice in both Computer Science and at a wider level, in education, covering many subjects such as Psychology.

So let's start at the beginning. What is OER?

What is Open Source, and what are the principles of OER?

  • OER can be boiled down to these principles:
  • re-use:
  • re-distribute:
  • revise:
  • re-mix:
  • retain: Further info can be found here and here
  • Open Source Basics (2014) by Sarah Moyle, Intel Open Source Technology Center.
  • They should be:
  • Free to legally copy, use, revise, adapt and re-share.
  • OERs can include a variety of teaching materials including curriculum, course outlines, textbooks, teaching notes, assignments, tests and projects.
  • Not format specific -- can include digital, audio, video or animation. The native format is digital but print copies can be made.
  • Attribution and sharing the content are almost always requirements
