Passionate About Empowering Lifelong Readers and Creating Hands On Learning Experiences
I have been in education for over 20 years as a teacher, technology support/instructional facilitation, and now as a media coordinator. In that time, I have the opportunity to attend and create multiple professional development (PD) opportunities that inspire me to create and improve my practices, but nothing motivates me more than my students.
My passion for social studies and language arts was born in elementary school with teachers who read to us aloud daily and teachers who inspired us to dream of a world that was reachable and connected. Today, I see it as my mission to truly bring the world to my students and let them see diverse, authentic representation in our resources, space, and learning. I seek to create an environment that inspires the next generation to be someone who seeks and speaks truth, reflects on their own character, lifts others, and connects to others.
Literacy and hands on learning can facilitate these skills in our learners. As I work to cultivate the minds of my students, I seek to understand, encourage, and guide them in their own learning journeys. ISTE's standards for students, educators, and coaches guide my practices and help me empower our school to do great things.
