Privacy Policy

1. About this policy

Gym Mouse is a workout planning and tracking app developed and operated by Christopher Cantrell (“Gym Mouse,” “I,” “me,” or “my”). This Privacy Policy explains how information is handled when you use the Gym Mouse iOS app. Gym Mouse is currently offered in the United States and Canada.

2. Information handled by Gym Mouse

You can use Gym Mouse without creating an account or providing your name, email address, phone number, or precise location. The app stores information you create while using it, which may include:

• Custom exercises, workout templates, favorites, playlists, and notes.

• Planned workout dates and completion status.

• Workout history and performance information, such as exercises, sets, repetitions, weight, time, distance, personal records, and workout scores.

• App preferences, including measurement units, notification settings, appearance, and synchronization choices.

• Technical identifiers generated by the app to associate plans, workout sessions, Calendar events, and Apple Health entries.

This information is used only to provide the app’s planning, workout logging, progress, synchronization, export, widget, notification, and Live Activity features.

3. Storage on your device

By default, Gym Mouse stores your data locally on your device. Local preferences and limited workout status information may also be stored in an app group so Gym Mouse widgets and Live Activities can display information you choose to create in the app.

4. Optional iCloud synchronization

iCloud synchronization is off by default. If you enable it, Gym Mouse uses Apple CloudKit to keep your Gym Mouse data available across devices signed in to the same Apple Account. This can include your exercises, templates, planned workouts, workout history, performance data, personal records, playlists, and supported settings.

This information is stored in your private iCloud database, is governed by Apple’s terms and privacy practices, and counts against your iCloud storage where applicable. Private CloudKit data is associated with your Apple Account and is not visible to me through the CloudKit developer console.

Gym Mouse does not read or import information from Apple Health. Information synchronized through iCloud originates from your activity within Gym Mouse and is not retrieved from HealthKit. The app may retain a technical identifier and synchronization status so it can recognize that a Gym Mouse workout was successfully written to Apple Health; those fields do not contain HealthKit measurements or medical information.

Turning off iCloud Sync stops Gym Mouse from synchronizing on that device after the app is reopened, but does not by itself delete the copy already stored in iCloud. When iCloud Sync is active, the app’s “Delete All Data Everywhere” action deletes Gym Mouse records from the device and propagates those deletions through iCloud.

5. Optional Apple Health integration

Apple Health synchronization is off by default and requires your permission. If you enable it, Gym Mouse writes completed workouts to Apple Health. Depending on the workout, the information written may include workout type, workout name, start and end times, duration, distance, and pause and resume events.

Gym Mouse does not read information from Apple Health. Health information is not used for advertising, marketing, profiling, or data mining, and it is not sold or disclosed to data brokers.

You can stop future Apple Health writes by turning off Apple Health synchronization in Gym Mouse or changing Gym Mouse’s Health permission in iOS Settings or the Health app. Deleting Gym Mouse data or deleting the Gym Mouse app does not automatically delete workouts previously written to Apple Health. You can review or delete those records in the Apple Health app.

6. Optional Calendar integration

Calendar synchronization is off by default and requires your permission. If enabled, Gym Mouse creates all-day Calendar events for planned workouts. An exported event can include the workout name, date, and an exercise summary.

Gym Mouse requests full Calendar access because iOS requires that access for the app to locate, update, and remove events it previously created. Gym Mouse uses Calendar access only to manage its exported workout events and does not scan or use unrelated Calendar entries.

Turning Calendar synchronization off causes Gym Mouse to attempt to remove the Calendar events it exported. You can also revoke Calendar access at any time in iOS Settings.

7. Notifications, widgets, and Live Activities

If you enable notifications, Gym Mouse uses Apple’s system notification services for workout-related reminders such as rest timers. Widgets and Live Activities use data stored by Gym Mouse on your device to present workout information. Gym Mouse does not use these features for advertising or cross-app tracking.

8. Data exports

You can create a CSV export containing your Gym Mouse data. The export is created only when you request it and is presented through the iOS share sheet. You choose where and with whom to share it. Once you send or save an exported file outside Gym Mouse, its handling is controlled by you and by the service or destination you selected.

9. Information Gym Mouse does not collect

The app does not contain third-party advertising or analytics SDKs and does not use tracking technologies. I do not sell your personal information or share it for behavioral advertising. Gym Mouse does not collect your contacts, photos, microphone recordings, precise location, payment information, or information from other apps.

10. Service providers and disclosures

Gym Mouse relies on Apple platform services, including iCloud/CloudKit, HealthKit, EventKit, notifications, widgets, and Live Activities, when you use the corresponding features. Apple handles information through those services under Apple’s Privacy Policy.

I may disclose information if required to comply with law, legal process, or a valid governmental request, or when reasonably necessary to protect rights, safety, and security. Because I do not operate an account database or analytics server for Gym Mouse, I generally do not possess users’ in-app workout records.

11. Support communications

If you email for support, I receive the email address, message, and any information you voluntarily include. Support email is processed using Gmail, a Google service, and is used only to respond to you, troubleshoot the issue, maintain appropriate business records, and protect the app from misuse. Do not include sensitive health information in a support message unless it is necessary for your request.

12. Retention and deletion

• Local Gym Mouse data remains on your device until you delete it through the app, delete the app, or erase the device.

• If iCloud Sync is active, synchronized Gym Mouse data remains in your private iCloud database until it is deleted using Gym Mouse’s “Delete All Data Everywhere” action or through controls Apple provides for managing iCloud data.

• Calendar events and Apple Health records are maintained by their respective Apple apps and services as described above.

• Support communications are retained only as reasonably needed to respond, keep appropriate records, resolve disputes, or meet legal obligations.

To withdraw consent, disable the relevant synchronization feature in Gym Mouse and revoke the corresponding permission in iOS Settings when applicable. For privacy questions or requests concerning information you sent directly to me, contact gymmouseapp@gmail.com.

13. Security

Gym Mouse uses Apple’s app sandbox and platform storage and permission systems. Optional synchronized records use the user’s private CloudKit database. No method of storage or transmission is completely secure, but Gym Mouse is designed to minimize collection and avoid operating a separate developer-controlled database of workout information.

14. Children’s privacy and COPPA

Gym Mouse is a general-audience fitness app and is not directed to children under 13. The app is not designed or marketed as a children’s service, and I do not knowingly collect personal information online from children under 13. Gym Mouse does not require users to submit an age or create an account.

If I learn that a child under 13 has sent personal information directly to me, such as in a support email, I will take reasonable steps to delete it. A parent or guardian who believes a child has provided personal information may contact gymmouseapp@gmail.com.

15. California privacy information

This section supplements the rest of this policy for California residents. Gym Mouse does not sell personal information, share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising, or disclose personal information to third parties for their own direct-marketing purposes.

The app does not transmit your Gym Mouse workout library to me. The categories of information I may receive directly are identifiers and correspondence—such as your email address, message, and information you voluntarily provide—when you contact me for support. I receive that information directly from you and use it for support, security, record-keeping, and legal-compliance purposes. As described above, Apple provides the optional platform services used by the app, and Google processes support email through Gmail.

Gym Mouse does not track users across third-party apps or websites. Because no such tracking occurs, browser “Do Not Track” signals do not change the app’s behavior. Third parties do not collect personally identifiable information through Gym Mouse for cross-service tracking.

You can review and change your workout information directly in the app and can export or delete it using Gym Mouse’s Data Management controls. To ask about, correct, or delete information you sent directly to me, email gymmouseapp@gmail.com. I will not discriminate against you for making a privacy request. This policy identifies its effective date at the top, and changes will be posted on this page.

16. Information for Canadian users

For purposes of applicable Canadian privacy law, Christopher Cantrell is responsible for personal information under my control and serves as Gym Mouse’s privacy contact. You can reach me at gymmouseapp@gmail.com.

Gym Mouse limits collection, use, disclosure, and retention to what is reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this policy. Optional iCloud, Apple Health, and Calendar features require an affirmative choice or system permission. You may withdraw consent for future use of an optional feature by turning it off in Gym Mouse and revoking its system permission where applicable. Withdrawal does not reverse actions already completed, such as workouts already written to Apple Health.

Most Gym Mouse workout information is controlled directly by you on your device or in your private iCloud account and is not accessible to me. The app’s controls allow you to review, correct, export, and delete that information. You may ask to access or correct personal information under my control—principally information you sent in a support communication—by emailing the privacy contact above. I may take reasonable steps to verify your identity and will respond within the period required by applicable law. If I cannot fulfill a request, I will explain why, subject to legal restrictions.

Gym Mouse is operated from the United States. Support communications and information handled by Apple or Google platform services may be processed or stored outside Canada, including in the United States, where they may be subject to the laws of the jurisdiction in which they are processed. Apple controls the infrastructure used for private iCloud, Apple Health, Calendar, notifications, widgets, and Live Activities; Google provides Gmail for support communications.

Please send any concern about Gym Mouse’s privacy practices to the privacy contact above so I can investigate and respond. If a concern is not resolved, you may contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada or, where applicable, your provincial privacy regulator, such as Québec’s Commission d’accès à l’information.

17. Your privacy rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights concerning personal information, such as rights to know, access, correct, or delete it. Most Gym Mouse workout data is controlled directly by you on your device or in your private iCloud account and is not accessible to me. For information you have provided directly to me, you may send a request to the email address below. I may need to verify the request before responding.

18. Changes to this policy

I may update this Privacy Policy to reflect changes to Gym Mouse, legal requirements, or privacy practices. The date at the top identifies the latest version. Material changes will be communicated through an appropriate notice in the app or on this page.
