This youth summit took place on November 23, 2021 and was hosted by Operation Engage, a prevention initiative with the New England Division of the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), and by the Mark Wahlberg Youth Foundation. Over 15,000 students across New Hampshire saw this live-streamed from their classrooms. 3 GYAC members, Loreley Godfrey, Narayan Sajeev, and Likhita Thiriveedi participated in this event as panelists. A GYAC alum, Aron Silvestre, also participated as a panelist, and had his own speaking segment as well. GYAC Chair, Elsa Rogers, had her own speaking segment with music artist, Dee-1.
After the GYAC became an officially recognized government council by Executive Order, members decided that they wanted to take steps to gain more name recognition. Members concluded that they wanted to have their own logo that could easily be associated with the Council and their work. They wanted to design something that was youthful and represented who they are as a group.
One thing that was easy to agree on was which colors to include. Light blue and orange is a color combination that the membership decided is youthful, and not one you see too often in major corporations' logos, so it would help them to stand out.
Autumn Pelletier, a member of GYAC, offered to create some sample logos. She came to the Council with the first 2 ideas, one with the outline of New Hampshire, and the other with a deer. While both logos had elements of NH, the membership decided it should somehow represent their work as a government council. So, Autumn came back with 2 more designs that included a clipped photo of the actual State House. Then, as the Council reflected on branding, they concluded that the logo should have 3 main colors and an original design, rather than a clipped photo. Autumn drew up an outline of the State House, then with a few more edit suggestions, the membership landed on a more detailed outline of the State House, with an orange background. She also designed an "alternate" logo, with a blue background for any platform where orange may not show up as nicely.
With lots of talent and patience, Autumn came up with the final logo, and GYAC voted to make it their official symbol representing them and their work.
