POETRY

special guest: Claudia Castro Luna

prompt: check in with yourself, write about a wound

cuts sting like a raging bee whose home has been shaken

the blood runs down my legs like an old river

they turned scars aged like old pine trees

much like the lifted roots on the ground

my body is like the earth and i am mother nature

i control what i do how it feels how i live how i hurt

prompt: check in again, write about experiencing joy

a full-body experience i do not run out of senses

this joy runs like electricity through my veins

heart thumping out of my chest like a rabbit

further instruction: “begin your poem with come with me: decide to start with a wound or a joy"
