I am an associate professor at SUNY Binghamton, School of Computing, as well as an adjunct faculty member at UGA. I also worked at UGA and RIT as a faculty member. Before becoming a professor, I worked at Ford and Disney ESPN for robot perception and vision research. My research interests include robotics, computer vision, AI, deep/machine learning, multimedia, and AI-based infrastructure systems. My research has been funded by NSF, USDA, Army Research Lab, Air Force Research Lab, Georgia Department of Agriculture, Ford, GM, Georgia Peanut Foundation, Qualcomm, Tencent, Mackinac, and more. I am honored to have received the NSF CAREER Award, USDA New Investigator Award, Aharon Katzir Young Investigator Award from the International Neural Network Society (INNS), Ford URP Award, Tencent Rhino-bird Young Faculty Award, Scialog Fellow, Frank A. Pehrson Award, and Erasmus Mundus Scholarship. I was also a visiting faculty at Air Force Research Lab (AFRL) and a visiting scholar at Auckland University of Technology (AUT). I was selected as a U.S. representative to participate in the 2026 National Academies' U.S.-Africa Frontiers of Science, Engineering, and Medicine Symposium. I am also serving as the Chair of the IEEE Atlanta Signal Processing Chapter and the Co-Chair of the IEEE Robotics & Automation Society (RAS) Technical Committee on Agricultural Robotics and Automation, which is one of the three Blue Ribbon Technical Committees in RAS. I serve as associate editor and area chair on AI/Robotics/CV journals (KBS, RAL, JEI) and conferences (CVPR, ICRA, AAAI, etc).
