I have always believed that we need stronger borders. America builds borders all over the world yet our own southern border is falling apart. We need to modernize our border agent's equipment and upgrade our ports of entry. America should have one of the strongest borders in the world and its disturbing to hear about all the crime and drug smuggling that occurs on our southern border. It is time that changes and we give our border agent what they need to succeed. I also believe we need to make the test to become a U.S Citizen easier, if American Citizens can not pass the test than it should not be the test. I will fight to lower the cost to become a U.S Citizen and the wait time it takes. I promise to fight for stronger borders and to make the process of becoming a U.S Citizen more efficient.
Medicine should not be expensive, and we must negotiate with the pharmaceutical companies in order to make a deal that will benefit the nation and its people. In 2001 Insulin was around 40 dollars, today it's around 275 dollars. That is simply wrong and needs to be changed. Companies should not take advantage of people when it comes to medicine, because then they are making people choose between debt and life. I have already introduced legislation, during my last term, that would have done just what I have said. Congress shot it down, I pledge to you that I am not done fighting for the people. If re-elected into Congress I will bring this issue back on the table and will fight to get the people medicine that they can afford.
American Veterans deserve to be treated better than they are currently. Our veterans suicide rate and homeless rate is disturbing to me and to the majority of Americans. The American Government seems to have turned its eye on our veterans and I promise I will not let that continue. I will fight to get every one of our veterans off the street. We have such a large Military Budget that some of that money should go toward our former soldiers. I think its wrong that our V.A. is poorly funded and we rely on the communities to protect the ones that protected us. It is time Congress helps our veterans and it is time that America finally opens its eyes to the problems of our Defenders of Democracy.
I have always believed that the smaller the government is, the more efficient the government is. America needs to stop infringing on the rights of the states and give the states a say in what is going on. The federal government should not force their education or healthcare policies on the states. Every state is different and every state knows what is best for their citizens. The federal government needs to stop trying to speak for the cattle farmers and the people who live in major cities. They need different things and the states know how to give them what they need to be successful. I promise to fight for more states rights and to give our states the say they deserve in our government.
