In the seventeenth century five types – or 'genres' – of painting were established, these were: history painting; portrait painting; landscape painting; genre painting (scenes of everyday life) and still life.
Can you think of any other genres of painting?

Today we will sketch ourselves- self portrait - in preparation for next weeks Self Portrait watercolour painting session. Mrs Chapman will photograph you and show how to make a stencil image from this which we will use next week..
This week we will use the sketches we made last week to make a loose watercolour portrait.
First we will experiment with the following techniques
Masking Fluid & Rubber Cement (on ALL areas to stay white), Pouring, Dripping, Splatter, Salt, Spray (with water), Splatter
