Today we will learn about the Artist Vincent Van Gogh.
We will each make a copy of one of his famous paintings 12 sunflowers.
Vincent Willem van Gogh (Dutch: 30 March 1853 – 29 July 1890) was a Dutch Post-Impressionist painter who, after his death, became one of the most famous and influential figures in Western art history. In a decade, he created about 2,100 artworks, including around 860 oil paintings, most of which date from the last two years of his life. They include landscapes, still lifes, portraits, and self-portraits, and are characterised by bold colours and dramatic, impulsive and expressive brushwork that contributed to the foundations of modern art. He was not commercially successful and, struggling with severe depression and poverty, He died at the age of 37.

This week we have an opportunity to paint a small mural on a Chorus Cabinet on Gresson Street on the side of Superliquor near the Wharf.
Each student will paint a fish or sea creature of their choice and I will paint an undersea scene for the fish to inhabit
Below are the fish and sea creature images the students painted
Isla
Maira
Keilah
Koriniti
Penelope
Zara
Sienna
Kaitlyn
I will prepare the cabinet and paint the underwater scene first. I will then use a photocopier to enlarge the fish/sea creatures, trace around them in the correct positions and undercoat them so they are ready for the students to come and paint their fish/creature.
We will try to get this done during the October school holidays and will have teams of 3 students at a time, one working on each side of the cabinet so they don't get in each others way.
