Scholarship information
The purpose of the TX Gulf Coast APHON scholarship program is to provide funding for college/vocational education to pediatric hematology/oncology patients (on or off therapy) pursuing a degree in health care. The APHON Gulf Coast Scholarship program is made possible through chapter fundraising and local conferences.
For the 2025-2026 school year we have 5 $750 scholarships. Applications will be reviewed and determined by the TX Gulf Coast Scholarship Committee and Board members.
All required documents must be emailed to TXGulfCoastAPHONScholarship@gmail.com before the deadline of April 15, 2026.
As part of the application an essay on How would receiving this scholarship affect you and your family? is required.
The essay must be between 2-4 pages, double spaced, 12-point font.
The essay needs to be typed and attached to application email
A Physician, Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant's written and signed statement must be provided to confirm treatment as a patient of Texas Children's Cancer and Hematology Center, M.D. Anderson Cancer Center, UT Physician's Comprehensive Sickle Cell Center, University of Texas Medical Branch (UTMB) Galveston Cancer Center or Children's Memorial Hermann. Applicants should be under 21 years old at diagnosis.
Verification of acceptance from intended or current College/University or Vocational School. An acceptance letter or recent college/university report card will be accepted
