Guillaume Compain

Associate Professor in organic chemistry

University of Bordeaux, CBMN/IECB – UMR 5248

Guillaume Compain obtained his PhD in 2012 at the University of Poitiers under the supervision of Prof. Sébastien Thibaudeau and Dr. Agnès Mingot. His thesis focused on the development of new synthetic methodologies in superacid media. Then, he held a temporary teaching and research assistant position before moving to the University of Southampton in 2013. During this period, he worked as a postdoctoral researcher in the group of Prof. Bruno Linclau to study the influence of fluorination on hydrogen bonding and lipophilicity. Latter in 2015, he moved to the Université Côte d'Azur to work in the group of Dr. Elisabet Duñach in the field of Lewis superacids. In 2016, he joined the group of Prof. Sébastien Papot at the Institut de Chimie des Milieux et des Matériaux de Poitiers (IC2MP) to develop anticancer drug delivery strategies using fluorine chemistry. Then, he was appointed as a Maître de conférences (equivalent to Assistant Professor) at the University of Bordeaux in 2017 and joined the peptidomimetic chemistry team at the Institut Européen de Chimie et de Biologie (IECB) and his teaching is given at the faculty of pharmacy.
