Guillaume Morel

Ph.D., temporary associate professor, University of Strasbourg

Presentation

My current position is temporary associate professor at the University of Strasbourg and research fellow at the Bureau d'économie théorique et appliquée (BETA).

My research interests are mainly focused on pandemic management, economic history, cliometrics, and long-term growth with both theoretical and empirical approaches.

I hold a Ph.D. in economics from the University of Strasbourg and BETA  since May 2023.

During my Ph.D., I studied the impact of both pandemics and containment measures on long-term economic instability. My research contains both cliometric and theoretical approaches to underline the impact of pandemics throughout different times, from the Black Death to COVID-19. I particularly discuss the impact of containment measures and participate in the little divergence debate.
