Maths and me @ SPANKS

Estimation of Ink consumption used for printing process;

SPANKS formula is used commonly to calculate ink used as they form by first letters of Stock, Process, Area, Number of page side, Kind of image and Specific Gravity (Density of ink). Numbers are assigned to each part and the product of SPANKS is divided by 353 as said below;

(S*P*A*N*K*S) / 353 = Ink required in Kg for a specific job. This is rough calculation to find the consumption for cost and estimation purpose.

Using table below, we can calculate ink used for printing - Newspaper 40,000 copies of 16 page with 4 - colour coldset-ink .

Example : Let us collect information as follow with help of tabulation ;-

Stock - 1.8 Newsprint ; Process - 0.5 offset ; Area - 0.19 Sq.m; 16 pages  * total copies  40,000 No. of pages = 640000; Kind of image - 0.2 ; Sg density - 1.3

( S * P * A * N * K * S ) / 353

(1.8 * 0.5 * 0.19* 640000 * 0.2 * 1.3 ) / 353 = 28454.4 / 353 = 80.6 Kg

We have tried following calculator to work with above SPANKS formula ;-
