Every student will present their experiment in front of a judge. The student should not read from the backboard, however, they are encouraged to use it to make sure they discuss all aspects of their project. Following is step-by-step approach for your presentation:
Introduction
Tell the judges your name and your grade. Do not tell the judges which school you attend.
Title, Purpose, Question
State the title, purpose and question of your project. You should also state why you chose this project.
Hypothesis
Clearly state your hypothesis. Explain the reasoning behind your hypothesis.
Materials, Variables, Procedure
Explain the materials used and procedure followed. Remember to describe the manipulated, responding, and controlled variables.
Results
Shoe the charts/graphs to the judges and explain them. If the results are shown on your backboard point them out to the judges.
Conclusion
Explain what you have proven. If you think that you had some problems or errors in your experiments, don’t be afraid to admit these.
Future Plans
Tell the judges what you might do in the future to continue your experimentation. What would you do differently if you were able to do this project again?
Real World Connection
Explain to the judges the importance of your project to the world.
Questions
At the end of your presentation, ask the judges if they have any questions. Take your time to think about your answers. If you do not know the answer to a judge’s question, then say, “I’m sorry I don’t know the answer; however I think the answer might be ________________.”
THANK THE JUDGES!
