Do you like spending time with your friends & family? If so…
You can help us develop new computational tools to measure & analyze social interactions as well as eating & drinking behaviors! These behaviors are an essential part of daily life. They are also closely related to many health conditions like cancer, heart disease, obesity, & developmental disorders like autism.
We hope the tools we develop will allow us to make new discoveries about these behaviors & their impact on the health & developmental conditions of people, from infancy to adulthood.
Interested? You get your friends together and your snacks ready. We’ll bring the games & wearable devices to your home!
During the in-home session, we will ask you to play games with at least 3 of your friends, family, or housemates for about 2 hours in your own home. You will record the games & your social interactions with wearable devices like cameras, microphones, & smartwatches.
We will use these recordings to build computational tools to detect and analyze social, eating, & drinking behaviors.
We will also compile all the recordings from this study into a research dataset. The dataset will contain the recordings from our study and similar research studies from other universities. We will release the dataset to the public research community after we review all the recordings. We will not include your full name or any other personally identifying information in the dataset.
If all study tasks are completed, each participant will be paid a total of $105!
Participant Requirements:
Must be between 18 and 64 years old
Must speak English fluently
Must have a tablet or computer with internet access at home
Must be comfortable with your video, audio & survey data being shared in a public research dataset
Residence used for the in-home session must be in metro-Atlanta
Brief Outline of the Study:
One member of your group completes the online application
All group members complete a Group Member Form, learn about the study, and give their permission to participate
All group members complete short pre-session questionnaires and tasks and earn a compensation of $15 each
Georgia Tech researchers meet you and your group at your home and record your group playing a game, like One Night Ultimate Werewolf or Resistance: Avalon. All members are paid $60 for their time
All group members complete a post-session task, narrating their strategies and emotions. Each member is compensated $15 per perspective

COVID-19 Precautions
Our research team will take every precaution to ensure that your participation in this study does not increase your risk of exposure to COVID-19. We will wear PPE the entire time we are with you and your group. We will not enter your home at any time during your session, and we will maintain 6 feet of social distance from you as much as possible.
The other participants in your group should be people you know and currently spend time with indoors without wearing PPE. You will not be wearing face masks while playing the games with your group inside your home.
