The City of Vice[3], commonly known as Vice City or simply Vice, is a city located in the state of Florida, United States. The city is the setting for Grand Theft Auto: Vice City and Grand Theft Auto: Vice City Stories.

Vice City is based on Miami, which was a major cocaine trans-shipment point for South America during the 1980s. This is further reinforced with its theme of the drug business and crime, as well as the presence of new upper-class businesses and residents in the city, with some of them likely to be funded by the drug business.

The city has four hospitals (two in each major island) and four police stations (two in each major island) distributed evenly in the city; these facilities serve as respawn points after the player dies or is arrested. The city also has one fire station and an air base known as Fort Baxter Air Base. Unlike Liberty City and the state of San Andreas, however, Vice City has no known railway or rapid transit systems, and all islands are connected by road and bridges.

Despite being based on the real-life city of Miami, the city of Miami exists in some form in the 3D Universe, as both Vice City and Miami are listed as travel destinations on the promotional Francis International Airport website in Grand Theft Auto III, and is mentioned by name on travel advertisements in Grand Theft Auto: Vice City.

Vice City is located in a tropical climate. The city is also exposed to hurricanes like Miami or any other city in South Florida; in 1986, Hurricane Hermione was forecast to strike Vice City, which forced the closing of all bridges to and from the mainland. When the storm changed course before it could hit, the bridges were reopened.

The Vice City featured in Grand Theft Auto: Vice City Stories is based on the Grand Theft Auto: Vice City version of the city, but set two years earlier in 1984. The majority of the city remained the same but contains several noticeable differences in its landscape from its "future" depiction.

The distribution of gangs in Vice City circa 1984 is significantly different due largely to activities surrounding the Vance Crime Family, which rose to prominence that year. Their subsequent dominance has devastated a number of existing gangs which previously had a significant stake in the city. In the beginning of GTA Vice City Stories, a number of previously unheard of gangs in Vice City are also present before they disbanded or were wiped out by Victor Vance and his organization.

The Sharks control the Washington Beach and Ocean Beach areas of the city, dominating in smuggling, robbery, and drug trafficking. After their businesses are seized by the Vance Crime Family, the Sharks gang is suggested to have become the Streetwannabe's street gang by 1986.

As Victor Vance is dishonorably discharged from the military, the Mendez Cartel, headed by brothers Armando and Diego Mendez, set up shop in Vice City and become the most powerful criminal organization in the city, basing their operations at Prawn Island and becoming rivals of Diaz's Gang. Originally allied with the Vance Crime Family, they eventually betrayed Victor, leading to their own deaths (with the help of Ricardo Diaz) and the collapse of their organization.

As a result of the shift of power in Vice City, it is assumed the Vance Crime Family controls a fair share of the city, and both Victor and Lance agree to leave Vice City for several years to lay low and live off of their drug money in the Dominican Republic after Victor kills the Mendez Brothers. In 1986, the Vance Brothers are active in Vice City, although their organization's current size and stake in the city is unknown. Victor is killed at the beginning of Vice City, and with Lance being killed by Tommy Vercetti, the Vance Crime Family's activities are ended. The Vercetti Gang would then become the most powerful organization in Vice City, with virtually all districts under complete control of Tommy Vercetti.

Its original release version uses a tweaked version of the RenderWare game engine used by GTA III, and similarly presents a huge cityscape, fully populated with buildings (from hotels to skyscrapers), vehicles (cars, motorcycles, boats, helicopters, and planes) and people.

GameRevolution awarded the game with a A rating, Ben Silverman claimed "The depth of this game is unparalleled; there are hordes of side quests and missions and cool little Easter eggs. You need to follow the main story in order to open up the whole city and gain access to property acquisition, but you can still spend hours just wandering around getting into trouble".

Grand Theft Auto: Vice City 10th Anniversary Edition was announced by Rockstar on October 26th, 2012.[21] On November 21, 2012, Rockstar further revealed it would be launched on December 6, 2012 for iOS and Android devices, and would cost $4.99 for both the App Store version and the Google Play version (with the British release costing 2.99 for the App Store and 3.29 for the Google Play Store).[22]

Rockstar announced that it would include "native high-resolution graphics and several enhancements unique to the iOS and Android platforms including updated character models and lighting effects, new and more precise firing and targeting options, a fully customizable control layout and native support for retina display devices."[23]

At times the game might heavily use your devices's resources, making it run hot. While this is normal, if you're uncomfortable with how warm your device is getting or get any warnings from it, the best thing to do is to stop playing for a bit and let it cool down.

Due to a variety of technical limitations, the game cannot run on every device. If you see this message, you won't be able to install the game on your device. We'll be exploring making it available on more devices in the future.

I bought vice city on my iphone 5 and ipad 3.i played on ipad 3 some missions then saved to ipads local memory and one save to cloud memory. My icloud is turned on on both devices. But when i go to iphone i cant see a slot in icloud space. It writes no icloud saves. What to do. But in icloud when you can see what you have in your icloud account i found gta vice city saves but still i cant see it in the game. So i do something wrong ?thank you...

I was having the same problem, I tried checking the icloud settings to see if the documents were turned on, and they were, I could see my vice city save game in there even. So I rebooted both my iPad in my iPhone and that seemed to fixed it. My save game from my iPad is showing on my iPhone. I haven tried going back the other way yet.

3 - Open Vice City on the same device you just closed it on - now go to the options and delete any icloud saves you have on that device (the dustbin icon lets you do it). Now go back to the main home menu in vice city and click 'resume game'.

Here, law enforcement bends to the demands and bribes of powerful criminals or to the temptations of the Dirty Cop. Much less chaotic than some Wretched Hives as the vice in the city is caused by organized corruption orchestrated by The Syndicate rather than greed-induced every-man-for-himself-ism and anarchy. The police are ineffective in Vice City, only getting off their asses to stop a criminal who is running over little old ladies repeatedly in the middle of the street. They'll only incarcerate the offender for a short sentence, too. Except, of course, our heroes, especially if they take effective actions against crime.

The setting used in most Wide-Open Sandbox games, particularly the "true crime" ones of the Grand Theft Auto variety (one of which is the Trope Namer). The city may be based on a real one, such as the ones seen in the Spider-Man games, but mostly it will be a loose amalgamation of various cities, so the designers don't have to worry about adhering to the laws of geography.

Anime & Manga  Durarara!!: The Tokyo entertainment and commercial neighborhood of Ikebukuro blends this trope with the City of Adventure, with a bunch of gangs around, people cutting each other with knives, Shizuo throwing random vending machines at Izaya everywhere around the city, and a headless motorcycle rider going around, freaking people out and stuff. While it does have a somewhat "noisy" reputation in Real Life, its "Vice" aspects in both the books and their anime adaptation were heavily overplayed due to Rule of Cool. Texhnolyze features Lux, possibly the bleakest example of this trope. Tokyo Crazy Paradise: Tokyo, where robbery and murder in broad daylight is considered just a normal day. Black Joke: Japan has been made the 51st state of the United States and prostitution has been banned in Tokyo. An artificial island, the Neon Island, has been built in Tokyo Bay for gambling and prostitution. It is a place swarming with organized crime. City Hunter: Shinjuku often appears like this. While it's not completely in the hands of its criminal elements, there's a number of crimes that the police can't or won't deal with (such as a serial killer who raped his victims as he kidnapped them in or close to the pleasure neighbourhood of Kabukicho, the police simply blamed them for supposedly being loose women), crimes that City Hunter deals with once the victims or their relatives ask for his help (the serial killer above, for example, was dealt with when the sister of one of his victims, who was waiting for her when kidnapped, hired City Hunter to do the police's job). JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Golden Wind: Naples at the beginning of the story is presented as a corrupt town where the mob is more feared by the police, and said police is also near corrupt or ineffective. Heavy Object: The city of Lost Angels was built near a Faith Organization Object maintenance base. The other superpowers sent spies to infiltrate the city, founding gangs to act as cover for their operations, and the Faith Organization responded in kind. The four gangs grew out of control as the crime rate exploded while the majority of the city's civilian populace fled. By the time Qwenthur and Havia arrive, the city consists of undercover spies, criminals profiting off the conflict, and a handful of innocents with nowhere else to go. e24fc04721
