Though a number of graphics types can be used in the creation of banners, vector graphics are generally preferred because of their ability to scale to larger sizes without distortion. Corel Corporation's CorelDRAW Graphics Suite offers small businesses the tools necessary to create and print vector-based banners without the need for expensive equipment or the use of a third-party printing company. CorelDRAW can print basic banners across multiple sheets of plain paper when used with a standard printer, though the same files can be professionally printed on a vinyl banner if desired.

Adjust the page dimension settings in the page setup window to match the desired dimensions for your banner. Set the page orientation to "Landscape" and set the height to eight inches or less if you want to print the banner using standard letter-sized paper. Set the width of the page to the desired length of your banner; if you want your banner to be five feet long, for example, you would set the width to 60 inches. Click the "Okay" button to apply the changes to the document.

Add graphics, lettering and other elements to the document file in CorelDRAW. Keep in mind that the final printed product will be large, so avoid using small fonts or small images. Use vector images instead of bitmaps to ensure that any graphics scale properly on the banner.

Select the "Print" option from the File menu if you will be printing the banner yourself; this will open a new window containing CorelDRAW's print options. Click the "Layout" tab and select the "As In Document" option to ensure that images and text are sized and positioned properly. Click the "Print Tiled Pages" option if you are printing the banner on individual sheets, then click the "Print" button to begin printing.

Once this is completed, you then go to the Share screen to prepare your project for export. However, when you start the render, you notice that the Mercalli banner once again shows up in the preview windows stating that a "video analysis is required".

On the modern web, banners are everywhere. Web banners allow you to improve brand power, visibility, reputation, and allow you to drive awareness to your customers, clients, or friends. This work was done for a client @sarahkyola who is a beauty blogger and makeup artist for her YouTube channel.

The specifications were a monochrome design in pixel format for the web banner section on the YouTube channel. This work was done using the Corel draw x3 but can be easily done on any version to x7 as the interface is similar on all.

Preparing files for Large Format Printing does not usually require the higher 300 dpi image files commonly associated with other printing methods. "Large" implies just that. 300 dpi images at large sizes can produce extremely large files - in the gigabytes range. This is usually not necessary and places extra burdens on all raster image processing systems (RIPs). You will find a wide range of opinions when researching this subject. When setting up images with the document size set at full size (the size of the printed product) it is only necessary to set the pixel size at 100 pixels/inch for most types of banners.

Set Document size full size of finished banner or sign. In this example 72 inches width and 36 inches high. Resolution will print crisp if set at 100 pixels/inch - (assuming your original artwork is high quality). Apps other than Photoshop use similar settings.

Pro Tip:

Setup your canvas or page size to the full size of the desired banner or sign in inches. Do not include bleed or crop marks. If you would like to order a 38 vinyl banner then create your page at 36 inches x 96 inches. Resolution should be set to 100dpi. Color mode: RGB e24fc04721
