Ranks

You might not have heard of other ranks, but you must have heard about being an Eagle Scout; after all, Neil Armstrong was an Eagle Scout! So, how do you become an Eagle Scout? BSA has a total of 7 ranks (that are earned), and one rank provided by default. When you first join the troop, you become a New Scout. From there, you work your way up the ranks by completing requirements; this process is known as advancement. The ranks, in order from high to low, are as follows:

Eagle

Life

Star

First Class

Second Class

Tenderfoot

Scout

(New Scout)
