GT Support: Indirect Services in Middle School


  • Advanced Learning Plan development and progress monitoring of academic and affective (a.k.a. social/emotional) goals

  • Consultation and collaboration between gifted specialists and general education teachers, counselors, and special service providers to provide a variety of support including:

    • Affective and academic needs of GT learners

    • Differentiation support

    • Co-planning opportunities

    • Facilitation of CCSD gifted identification process

    • Talent development support via electives courses

    • Communication of enrichment and extracurricular opportunities

The ALP: Advanced Learning Plan in Middle School


  • Provide programming that is designed to meet the academic and affective needs of gifted and talented learners

  • Progress monitor growth in areas of exceptionality (strengths-based) and affective needs

    • Rubrics aligned with area(s) of formal identification

    • Feedback from students and teachers to assess progress on both academic and affective goals

    • Academic goals - progress monitored in General Education classes with support from GT specialists

    • Affective goals - progress monitored directly with GT specialists
