BIOGRAPHY
Sasha N. Cervantes joined the faculty at Governors State University in 2014. She earned her B.A. from the University of California, Berkeley, an M.A. from New York University, and an M.A/Ph.D. from the University of Chicago. She was the Frederick Douglass Scholar and Visiting Professor at California University of Pennsylvania before joining the faculty at GovState.

Rebecca Fassbender is an undergraduate student at Governors State University, majoring in psychology with a pre-clinical concentration. Her goals include developing research experience in psychological research methods through hands-on training. She is currently working on a project examining co-curricular engagement in low-income, first-generation students. Outside of the Cognition Lab, she serves her community as an active board member of PFLAG Homewood – Flossmoor and is a proud long-time member of the Bel Canto Community Choir. She will be starting the PsyD program in Clinical Psychology at Roosevelt University in Fall 2026!
