Five Steps to Happiness
Make Yourself Happier – Think of three things that make you happy. Create a gratitude journal, to do this, take a couple of papers and fold them in half (the hamburger way) and staple or glue if you would like to . Decorate the front cover with color or in any way or manner. In this journal every day, write or draw 3 things that made you happy that day and write down why that made you happy.
Think Differently for Happiness - Try to use your strengths to have different thoughts on your happiness. Have you ever thought about what you are really good at doing? Are you good at making other people enthusiastic at what they are doing, are you good at communication, or Can you remember everything you ever said? Make a list of all your strengths, which can be physical, emotional or mental strengths. If you have trouble thinking of what are your strengths, ask someone who knows you very well. When you have to deal with a tough situation in the future, focus on what you are good at and think of how you could use one of your strengths in that situation.
Get Happy Through Others – Create something important. This is a fun activity, let your creativity shine. Make something like a painting, a video, a drawing, a collage, or a card to show someone important how much they mean to you. First, think of who you are making this object for. This person can be anyone that is important to you. Figure out what you would like to say/show through your work. Now create what you want to plan on giving them as a thank you! Once completed, give the person the object that you made for them. Tell them why you gave them this object. Once you have given them the object see how they react to it.
4. Do a Helpful Happiness Experiment – Try quick polling, now is the time to use your tech skills. Through e-mail, IM, text message, or verbal questions, ask 10 people that you know to rate how happy they feel three times throughout their day on a scale from 1 to 5, with 5 saying their very happy and 1 that they aren't happy. Make a chart and share your friends Explain what you measured, and share what could make them happier.
5. Create a Happiness action plan – Create an inspiration collage that has 5 tips that make you happy. In this collage, you can write, draw or find 5 tips that keep you happy. Is it singing a song really loudly that always makes you happy, or finding someone important to you and giving them a big hug? Once completed put it near your bed, in your school locker, or somewhere you look at a lot.
