Simbang Gabi, literally "Night Masses" but also known as Misa de Gallo (Mass of the Rooster) or Misa de Aguinaldo (Gift Masses), is a Filipino Christmas tradition that is now becoming part of your local parish's annual celebration of Advent.
Traditionally a series of nine dawn masses on the days leading up to Christmas Day, Simbang Gabi @ GSL consists of nine night masses to better cater to the modern, multi-cultural Australian who wants to rediscover the true meaning of Christmas.
And to many Filipinos, a taste of nostalgia.
