Our science textbooks this year are Science in the Industrial Age (for 2nd-8th grades) and Discovering Design with Earth Science (for 9th-12th grades).
In this self-directed language arts class, we allow students to work at their pace using a series of workbooks tailered to their level. They build confidence and mastery through independent practice, with teacher support available for questions and enrichment.
In this self-directed math class, 1st-6th students progress at their own pace using guided workbooks tailored to their skill level. They build confidence and mastery through independent practice, with teacher support available for questions and enrichment.
7th-12th students are enrolled in Pre-algebra, Algebra 1, or Algrebra 2.
This year, we are beginning a new class for the 8th-12th graders. We will study and put into practice principles from Seven Habits of Highly Effective Teens as well as a few other similar books.
In our Latin class, students explore the roots of the English language through fun activities, stories, and simple Latin phrases.
Each reading level focuses on a series of classical literature books. Some of our books this year include Little House in the Big Woods; The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe; Midsummer Night's Dream; Anne of Green Gables, and more!
Older students also take a focused writing workshop where they do a research paper, write articles for our yearbook, and practice writing skills for every-day use.
This year, our older students are also participating in the following electives: Typing, Social Dance, Culinary Arts, Car Care, Weight Training, Improv, Finance, and Art Foundations.
