The Coronavirus pandemic has left a very big impact on the world economy, with thousands being fired from work, and hundred-thousands dying. But, In China, emissions fell 25% at the start of the year as people were instructed to stay at home, factories shuttered and coal use fell by 40% at China’s six largest power plants since the last quarter of 2019. The proportion of days with “good quality air” was up 11.4% compared with the same time last year in 337 cities across China, according to its Ministry of Ecology and Environment. In Europe, satellite images show nitrogen dioxide (NO2) emissions fading away over northern Italy. With such milestones being achieved, there must be a lesson to be learnt:
War like preparation required on healthcare front: Future healthcare systems should be war-prepared to battle pandemics whenever they breakout.
We need to set ‘early warning systems’ in place in the society: Unlike in the past, viruses in the 21st century not only are ‘hyperactive’, but also leave their tales of devastation with ‘viral speed’. This is because of globalisation.
Climate change and COVID-19 are two very different challenges, but they do have some key things in common. Both are global - they do not respect national boundaries - and both require countries to work together to find solutions. The global community has shown that it can act to address a crisis, with governments, businesses and individuals taking measures and changing behaviours in response to the pandemic. When we work together, even small personal actions when put together, like physical distancing, can make a big difference, helping us to overcome huge challenges.
So, now the question arises what could be done at the local level?
The COVID outbreak has reduced pollution levels globally, this has become a one of the major environmental benefits of this. So, we as the makers of Tierra Feliz, propose that frequently, places where the pollution levels are going higher than the permissible limit, Traffic Bans will be imposed there, and this should ideally not impact people as the bans will be imposed only on the Private vehicles.
Plus there will be a disaster management squad, ever ready for any sort of calamity or outbreak in this case.
Companies, whose employees can work from home will be asked to let them do so so that lesser the people move out of their houses, lesser will be their environmental impact. So, the organisations will be told to do such practices and only call such employs when they are needed.
This would also help the offices to cut down their expenses to an extent. If they agree to implement such a plan, it would be a win-win situation for all.
