Geometric Representation Theory

A conference on geometric representation theory, and related topics, 3rd-7th July 2017.

The goal of this conference is bring together experts in geometric representation theory and related topics, to hear about the latest developments in the field. The conference will be held in new Mathematics and Statistics Building, University of Glasgow. It will run from 9.30am on Monday the 3rd of July, 2017, until 12.00pm on Friday the 7th of July. All talks will be in lecture room 116 (ground floor) of the School of Mathematics and Statistics.

There will be a short welcome/outline of the week at 9.30am on Monday morning before the first talk at 10am. There will be a conference dinner, subsidized for PhD students and postdocs, on Thursday evening the 6th of July.

Funding: We have very limited funding to cover travel (but not accommodation) costs for some PhD and postdoc participants. This will be awarded on a first come first served basis. Please email Gwyn Bellamy if you want to be considered for this.

Accommodation: Unfortunately, we are unable to book accommodation on behalf of participants. The following hotels are all in the Westend, within easy walking distance of the Mathematics and Statistics building: The Ambassador Hotel, The Clifton Hotel, The Kelvin Hotel, The Hilton, The Heritage Hotel, The Argyll Hotel and Kelvingrove Hotel. You might also be able to book accommodation at the Queen Margaret residences by contacting university accommodation here.

Getting to and from the Queen Margaret residences: Accommodation for the speakers has been booked at the Queen Margaret residence, which is just a short walk from the university. You can check in from 2pm onwards at the reception desk of the residence on the day of your arrival. If you are coming from Glasgow airport, then either simply take a taxi cab, which will cost no more than 20 pounds, or there is a frequent bus from the airport to Queen St. railway station. To get from either Queen St. or Central station to the residence, take the subway. For Queen St. get on at Buchanan St. subway station and for Central station, get on at St. Enoch station. Get off at Hillhead station. It is a 15min walk from there to the residences.
