EMAIL UPDATE FROM FRIDAY, APRIL 6:

Hello Stars players, families, and coaches!

We hope your Spring Break has been lovely, albeit not-very-Springlike.

Speaking of the delay of spring - it looks like this week isn't going to be much better for temps/snow/fields. We haven't heard anything from St. Paul yet, but we're assuming fields will be closed for at least part of this week.

We still intend to meet and have some sort of practice for high school teams this coming MONDAY, APRIL 9.

  • Players -meet at GRS (not McMurray) on Monday, April 9 at 3:30
  • Boys teams will meet in the cafeteria
  • Girls teams will meet in the upper commons
  • Please bring workout gear appropriate for the weather as there will likely be some kind of outdoor conditioning.

We will keep an eye on the rest of the week's weather and update as necessary. There are games scheduled for both girls (Tuesday night) and boys (Thursday night) teams, but we don't have confirmation as to whether fields are ready for those games. I will email further schedules on Monday to update you on times and locations.

Also: Mark your calendars! A parent/player meeting for Neuqua Knockout will be held on Monday, April 16 at 5:45pm in the GRS cafeteria (players can go right after practice).

  • The Neuqua knockout tournament is for players from the men's and women's varsity teams
    • We have been unable to host tryouts for the boy's team because of weather. We hope to have decisions made regarding the varsity/JV rosters by Friday, April 13. It appears there will only be one women's team (so all players are on varsity)
    • The tournament will be held in Montgomery, IL the weekend of April 20-22. Hotels and charter bus have been booked: more details on logistics, costs, schedules, etc. will be at the parent meeting and available online after.

You've registered online! Great! Tell your friends who haven't to do so!

  • You're receiving this email because you filled out the GRS High School League 2018 Info Form. Thanks for doing that!
  • I suspect that quite a few people haven't registered yet or forgot to fill out the online form because our numbers (especially for boys) are lower than expected. If you have a friend who hasn't registered yet, please encourage them do so.
  • We're still in the process of checking in other forms and paperwork, etc. We plan to take some time Monday to compare rosters to our records and let players know what they might still need to complete.

Lastly, the Stars Spirit Store is open and a few people have already ordered some swag. Check it out! I ordered the beach towel and it's awesome.

That's it for now. As always, reach out with any questions or concerns, and keep your fingers crossed for some warm, dry weather so we can play some ultimate!

Scramble/Tryouts Postponed again

Due to field conditions, St. Paul has closed the McMurray fields and turf again this week. We will plan on having tryouts/scramble next week (Tuesday, March 27 and Thursday, March 29) from 4-5pm.

There will be an informational meeting/season kickoff in the Great River Cafeteria on Thursday, March 8 from 6:00 - 7:30pm. Please email ultimate@greatriverschool.org if you plan on playing but can't make the meeting.
