GRS High School Ultimate Teams

Did you know that Ultimate Frisbee is the only sport at Great River School we do on our own? Other sports such as Soccer and Basketball are run through Twin Cities Academy. Ultimate is very popular among our students and we have enough players at GRS to field 3 HS teams: Girls Varsity, JV Boys/Open, and Varsity Boys/Open.

We also usually have 5 Middle School teams each spring!

Since Ultimate Frisbee is a club sport (not a MN sanctioned high school sport), we are not administratively/financially supported by Twin Cities Academy (like most of our other sports) and the players/families take on all of the costs. 

Our player fees help pay for quality coaches, practice gear, increasing MN Ultimate program/membership fees, field rentals, and local tournaments.  However, donations and money from fundraisers help us take part in travel tournaments, scholarships for players that can't afford the player fees, and provides us with extra practice time in a dome (it's hard to know when spring will arrive each year, so dome time in the winter helps us hit the ground running when it finally does thaw). Early season tournaments are a great opportunity to build team unity, work on specific game scenarios, and build skills. But they are expensive!
