"It’s one world. And it’s in our hands to protect it."
— Sir David Attenborough
In celebration of World Earth Day 2024, Growth 360 Ghana took the message of "Planet vs. Plastics" to two vibrant educational institutions in Tema — Tema Technical Institute on 22nd April 2024 and Tema Presbyterian School on 8th May 2024. These sessions formed part of our broader campaign to inspire and equip the next generation with the knowledge and tools to combat plastic pollution.
Earth Day at Tema Technical Institute
On Earth Day itself, we visited Tema Technical Institute, where we engaged students in a lively discussion about plastics — what they already knew, their concerns, and what they were curious to learn. Through interactive activities such as sorting plastic and non-plastic items using flashcards and brainstorming real-life scenarios, students explored innovative, eco-friendly solutions to reduce plastic usage in their daily lives.
Earth Day Extension at Tema Presbyterian School
Continuing the campaign, we reached out to Tema Presbyterian School on 8th May 2024. The session started with students sharing their thoughts on plastic use—its benefits, its environmental harm, and their expectations for the session.
In a hands-on learning experience, students identified plastics and non-plastics in their immediate environment and tackled two environmental case studies, brainstorming alternatives to plastic that still met practical human needs. Each participant received a reusable bottle as a token of encouragement and commitment to sustainability.
Gratitude & A Call to Action
We are deeply thankful to both Tema Technical Institute and Tema Presbyterian School for opening their doors to us and allowing us to share in such meaningful dialogue and learning. Special appreciation goes to our sponsors and dedicated volunteers who made both sessions impactful and memorable.
