This Program is offered as a social enrichment community group outing destination that can be scheduled as a single event or as an ongoing monthly or weekly program. Our activities encompass accessible gardening, engaging with farm animals and may include cooking or craft making from the garden harvest. Based on the interests & needs of the group, we intertwine sensory exploration, reminiscing, and storytelling while providing nuggets of education on animal and plant care, nutrition from the garden, and discussions on past and present nature-based leisure interests. Our program is designed to enhance physical, mental, and social well-being by fostering a re-connection with nature, nurturing feelings of gratitude, alleviating stress, and instilling a sense of competency through purposeful engagement with people, plants and animals.
All sessions include:
Accessible Gardening
Animal Interactions: Horses, Sheep & Chickens
Movement, Hikes & Labyrinth Experiences
Preparation of Healthy Snack or Nature-based Craft
Social Time
Sessions can take place on a weekly or monthly basis, each lasting two hours at the prairie star care farm. Registration is currently open but spots are limited. Please write an email to Growingconnections.info@gmail.com to plan your visit.
