TIPS ON SHOWING
Always read the Schedule and the rules very carefully.
2. Get your entry form and fees in on time.
3. Most exhibits are judged on quality and presentation. Uniformity is of greater importance than size. Arrange your exhibits attractively. See notes on GG&LHC
Top Tray for ideas on presenting vegetables, (in schedule, page 16).
4. State the variety name if you know it, this provides more interest for the visitors.
5. Double check sizes, numbers and other requirements such as trimming leaves or roots to correct length.
6. Try and bring some spare exhibits – accidents do happen!
7. Get to the hall with plenty of time to spare to set up. Once the judges arrive, you will not be allowed to stay.
8. Do not forget to come back and view the show, nor forget to take away your exhibits at the end.
9. On occasions, judges may not award a first prize if they feel that the best exhibit is not to a high enough standard.
'Schedule' handbooks which include all the divisions & classes as well as entry forms are also available from Grove and Wantage Libraries and the Vale and Downland Museum.
