1st - King Hammurabi’s reign over Babylon
Period: Ancient babylonians
Date: 1700 BC
Discovery: Together with heavenly bodies, known metals were noted and listed.
2nd - Democritus
Period: Ancient greece
Date: 430 BC
Discovery: He proclaims the atom to be the simplest unit of matter. All matter was composed of atoms.
3rd: Aristotle
Period: Ancient Greece
Date: 300 BC
Discovery: Declares the existence of only four elements: Fire, air. Water, and earth. All matter is made up of these four elements and matter has four properties; hot, cold, dry, and wet.
The Beginning of the Christian Era
1st: The Advent of the Alchemist
Period: Ancient Egypt
Date: 300 BC - 300 AD
Discovery: Influenced greatly by Aristotle's ideas, alchemists attempted to transmute cheap metals to gold. The Substance used for this conversion was called the Philosopher's Stone.

Ability: To transfer base metals to gold and silver. It is an unknown substance also called “the tincture” or “the powder”
2nd: Pope John XXIII
Period: Failure of the gold Business
Date: 13th Century - 15th Century
Discovery: A decree(edict) against gold making, the gold business continued/ Despite the alchemists’ efforts, transmutation of cheap metals to gold did not happen in this time period.
This was caused by the exchange rates floated against each other and inflation increased heavily during the outbreak of the First World War.
3rd: The Elixir of life
Period: Ancient Mesopotamia
Date: 1520
Discovery: Alchemist also wanted to find a chemical concoction that would enable people to live longer and cure all ailments. This elixir of life never happened either.
4TH: THE DEATH OF ALCHEMY
Period: Ancient Egyptian
Date: End of 17th Century
Discovery: The disproving of Aristotle's four-elements theory and the publishing of the book, The Skeptical Chemist (by Robert Boyle), combined to destroy this early form of chemistry.
