Other Activities

Additional Activity Ideas For Home Learning

· Play dough (recipe attached) and other sensory material play (sand, water, rice, etc.)

· Drawing and writing. (I generally recommend using blank paper as it is open, ended and promotes creativity. Coloring books can be fun and entertaining but really just promote coloring inside the lines. If your child enjoys coloring books I encourage providing paper and coloring books!)

· Reading to your child and allowing your child opportunities to ‘read’ and look at books independently. It’s important to provide fiction and information books.

· Sing songs

· Dance

· Read and recite nursery rhymes

· Create your own beautiful things (make a collection of random items that may not otherwise have a ‘home.’ For example, marker caps from dried up markers, old keys, game pieces, little plastic animals, etc. ) Children can play pretend with these items, sort them, count them, and so much more!

· Puzzles

· Blocks, legos, other building materials

· Creation Station-yarn, scissors, glue, cardboard, paper, etc. What can you build or create with these materials? (this should have supervision and may require modeling of how to use materials safely as well as ideas for how/what to create initially)

· Create puppets and act out a familiar story

· Dollhouse and small figure play

· Dress-up and pretend play

· Painting

· Outdoor play, walks, and hikes
