About This Project
About This Project
Welcome to the Arduino-Powered Air Quality Monitoring and Alarming System! This project, developed as part of the Innovation and Emerging Technologies Program (IETP) at the Addis Ababa Science and Technology University (AASTU), is designed to monitor air quality using an Arduino-based setup. By using a variety of sensors, this system detects key pollutants and environmental conditions, making it a valuable tool for both environmental awareness and health protection.
Objective
Our main objective is to create a reliable, cost-effective, and portable air quality monitoring and alarming system capable of measuring:
Pollutants such as Carbon Monoxide (CO) and Carbon Dioxide (CO₂)
Various harmful gases that can impact human health
Environmental factors like temperature, to provide context for air quality changes
How It Works
The system uses an Arduino micro-controller connected to specialized sensors for real-time data collection and analysis. This data can then be displayed or stored, helping us better understand air quality levels in different environments. By leveraging this information, we aim to raise awareness of pollution issues and inspire actions towards cleaner air and healthier living spaces.
Why This Matters
With pollution becoming an increasing concern worldwide, monitoring air quality is essential for public health. This project seeks to provide a practical solution for individuals and communities, empowering them to take charge of their surroundings through better information and awareness.
