- refers to the author’s life and the factors that influenced and shaped it, such as social, political and economic conditions during his or her time.
LINGUISTIC CONTEXT
- refers to the context within the discourse, that is, the relationship between the words, phrases, sentences and even paragraphs. It focuses on the language used in a literary work and how it is used to convey meaning
SOCIOCULTURAL CONTEXT
- refers to the idea that language, rather than existing in isolation, is closely linked to the culture and society in which it is used. This means when language is learnt, the socio-cultural context in which it is used needs to be taken into consideration as well.
