This site documents the work done to complete the capstone project done by Abdullah, Andrew, Levi and Michael in 2023-2024.
The Problem:
When entering tight spaces or maneuvering around obstructions, the ROV’s umbilical tether can become caught on edges, creating tension and preventing the ROV from advancing.
Group 44 aims to address this by creating a novel tether management system in partnership with Deep Trekker that will allow the ROV to move into these tight spaces and observe important details in ship wrecks, underwater caverns, and more!
By attaching a separate reel onto the ROV, slack can be easily and reliably produced as needed.
