About Me

Groovy Hands Drum Workshop’s has been created by myself, Dave Morrissey as an activity for Schools, businesses, communities & groups to promote engagement & participation using the medium of Music & Rhythm.

I am an accomplished singer, songwriter, drummer and guitarist. I've travelled the world playing music; Europe, USA, Australia, & most recently China. I've stumbled upon experiences & characters through my music, which I would never have encountered otherwise.

I have played support to some of Ireland's musical treasures, Aslan, The 4 of Us, Jack L, Sharon Shannon, Imelda May & I've played on some of Ireland's iconic stages, The Olympia Theatre, Vicar Street and Cork Opera House, as well as bars, venues, GAA Clubs & Arts Centre’s all over Ireland; the stuff of my dreams.

My music has quite literally taken me all over the world. This is just a snippet of my experiences, from an impromptu session in Barcelona with the vice-president of Walt Disney to a full gig in Cape Clear off West Cork, a private party in St. Tropez to an aboriginal man’s birthday party in a football stadium in Port Douglas Northern Australia, from the diary room at Sea Sessions Festival, Donegal to a chance meeting with Channel 5 (UK) producers in the Old Town Square in Prague.

I have gained a wealth of experience & contacts all over the world from playing my music.

I have worked with Kildare Wicklow ETB extensively for 10 years facilitating and delivering courses in song-writing, vocals and drums in varying settings, including but not limited to an extensive project work with The Curragh Family Resource Centre where I have created and delivered extensive songwriting workshops to The Men’s Group (Retired army personnel) resulting in 8 track monologue CD, a song writing workshop with The Women’s Group (Retired army personnel spouses). and ongoing projects with The Flourish Group (Age 8-16 undertaking Songwriting workshop) and long term project over the last 6 years with the Drum Group (Age 10-16)

Putting rhythm with song is my passion.

  • I am an excellent communicator, with an ability to adjust and hone my skills to the audience/participants present in order to fully engage participants in the delivery of my programme.

  • I am very charismatic; as I have demonstrated on stage over many years and it is this ability that sustained me for years in the industry and in supporting Aslan and many other great Irish bands. I bring that same enthusiasm and charisma to this project.

  • I am very patient, offering encouragement to those who need it while participating in my workshop

  • I am very focused on delivering my workshops and adapt my style to suit every environment.
