Course Overview

In this course you will be given a step by step on how to groom your dog at home using safe practices. You will learn about the proper tools to use and how to prep your dog for the final cut. Each style has a different cutting technique and you will be provided with the specific instructions on your desired cut for your furry friend.

Course Expectations

1. To learn the theory about strategies and practices leading up to dog grooming

2. How to groom your dog from home in a safe manner for you and your dog

3. How to translate theory into practice

Module One: Welcome Module!

Here we will introduce what you can expect from this course! Let’s begin by identifying your breed of dog, desired cut, and temperament of your dog.

Module Two: What tools should you be using

It’s time to learn about grooming tools. This module will teach you when and where to use specific tools. Information on where to purchase reasonably priced tools will also be provided.

Module Three: Cutting Techniques

First, we will learn basic and universal cutting techniques. A style lookbook will be provided, along with specific instructions to achieve the desired cut.

Module Four: How to prep your dog for grooming

It is now time to begin preparing your dog for a successful grooming session. We will teach you how to train your dog to be comfortable and obedient on the grooming table

Module Five: Let’s Get Ready

We will assemble all the necessary tools and prepare a technique guide to assist you with the final cut. Also, we will teach you how to perform the pre-groom wash.

Module Six: Final Cut

We have arrived at the end of the course. It is now time to complete the full groom session by yourself!

You will use all of the techniques learned in this course.

Culminating Activity

Produce a video grooming your dog using the techniques and skills acquired throughout the course. More details to come closer to the end of the course.
